Bosanquet, Bernard 1848-1923 Professor em Oxford de filosofia grega. Um dos neo-hegelianos ingleses. Companheiro de F. H. Bradley e T. H. Green, na escola do idealismo inglês que combate o utilitarismo. Depois de abandonar o ensino, instala-se em Londres onde se dedica a obras filantrópicas. Misturando a teoria da vontade geral de Rousseau com as teses hegelianas chaga a uma noção quase metafísica de Estado, considerando-o como um ser moral por excelência. Entende-o como um organismo, com vontade e personalidade próprias que absorveria as próprias vontades individuais. Nega a existência de um conflito entre o indivíduo e a sociedade.
